Polynesian Culture

Polynesian Culture comes from people who are considered to bea subset of the sea-migrating Austronesian people. There are three theories regarding the spread of humans across the Pacific and inhabited the islands as far east as Hawaii.

Between about 3000 and 1000 BC speakers of Austronesian languages spread through island Southeast Asia. They slowly spread out through the south pacific, island hopping and starting cultures as they went along the way. The Maori of New Zealand can trace their roots back to this common root as can the people of Hawaii.

Polynesian cultures share similar beliefs, rituals, and customs. They spread slowly and intermingled among each other. Many close islands formed alliances against other islands.

Polynesian culture is very interesting and as diverse as it is similar. This make the south pacific a truly interesting place.
